KUWAIT: Kuwait Airways, state agencies concerned and travel agents are working together to remove looming obstacles and impediments hurdling this year's hajj season, an official at the airline said here yesterday. A special team has already traveled to Jeddah Airport in order to facilitate hajj procedures in case of flight change for whatever reasons, Hadi Al-Azmi, chairman of the national carrier's Hajj and Umrah committee, addressed an annual gathering for pilgrimage at the company.
He thanked all state bodies for their fruitful cooperation for ensuring a successful hajj season this year. Several representatives from travel agents and hajj groups were present in the Kuwait Airways' annual meeting, he added. He urged pilgrims to stick to hajj instructions and rules, including departure and return dates, so as to avoid potential flight delays.
Meanwhile, a total of 9,265 people have registered so far to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year, according to the head of Kuwait's Hajj Mission. This total consists of 6,596 Kuwaitis, 2,628 expatriates and 32 bedoons. Speaking on Tuesday, Dr. Khalid Al-Mathkour, the mission head, added that the number of those wishing to perform the annual pilgrimage is increasing on a daily basis.
The Hajj mission will take all the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of Kuwait's pilgrims," said Dr. Al-Mathkour, urging any would-be pilgrims to register with official Hajj campaigns so that the mission can serve all those performing Hajj in the best way possible.
