Water rationing proposed

Published Date: April 03, 2007

KUWAIT: Official sources at the Ministry of Electricity and Water said that they had set awareness proposals for consumers to ration electricity and water, which could also be turned into proposed laws.

They explained that they were waiting for the Minister of Electricity and Water, Mohammad Al-Aleem's signature to go ahead with the proposal and added that if the proposals became laws to ration the use of electricity and water, they planned to implement the rules to guarantee savings in reserves of electricity and water.

They also cautioned all consumers that they would be forced to pay heavy fines in accordance to the amount of wastage and misuse of electricity and water.
The ministry also planned to launch information and awareness campaigns supported by actual figures of the extent of the wastages.
