KUWAIT: Today's issue of Arrouiah daily is its last as the paper is facing severe financial problems. Informed sources suggested that the paper was closed down after Qatari investors and the paper's publishers agreed that the financial losses that the paper has been sustaining are too heavy to make its continued publication viable.

One insider said that former Kuwaiti minister Shareeda Al-Maousherji, who is among the paper's founders and co-owners, wished to buy the paper, but was unwilling to purchase it with its current debts. The Qatari investors and other co-owners reportedly insisted that any would-be buyer should purchase the debts too, sealing the paper's fate. Arrouiah is the third daily newspaper in Kuwait to close down.
