Weekend may change
KUWAIT: The Cabinet discussed changing the weekend from Thursday and Friday to Friday and Saturday and then decided to refer the issue to the Civil Service Commission. Currently all ministries and government entities take off Thursday and Friday.
Private sector businesses tend to give employees only one day off or a day and a half, usually half day Thursdays and Fridays off. It's not clear how the shift to Friday-Saturday weekends would affect the private sector in Kuwait. Last year, both Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates changed their official weekends to Friday-Saturday.
