KUWAIT: Official security sources recently said that the Correctional Facilities Directorate at the Ministry of Interior plans to sign a contract with a Singaporean company to supply ropes for hanging, indicating the directorate's intention to stop buying them from Egypt.
They added that a special security delegation including officers and a doctor from the Criminal Investigation Department would leave soon for Singapore to check the quality of ropes, which according to sources, are of a better quality and can be stored for longer periods than the Egyptian ones. Moreover, during a recent hanging, a Pakistani's head was completely severed from his body by an Egyptian rope. These ropes are also far more expensive than the ones to be bought from Singapore, sources said.
