KUWAIT: Kuwait society for the protection of intellectual property rights will hold the first national conference on the subject on March 25, head of the society said yesterday. In a press conference, Sheikh Salman Al-Dawoud Al-Sabah said that the conference is an initiative by the Commerce and Industry Ministry and aims to discuss issues and challenges related to intellectual property and to activate intellectual property laws.
The ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, and Media and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will participate in the conference, he added. He pointed out that the conference will be a good opportunity for companies to speak about the problems with the attendance of officials.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commerce Undersecretary for trademarks Shakir Al-Saleh said that the conference will focus on the local aspect of the issue, but will discuss wider aspects in the next few years. He hoped that the conference?s recommendations would be applied.
